In a classroom setting, students are given the tools necessary to master the fundamental culinary and management skills needed for success in the restaurant, foodservice, and hospitality industries. They will also be instructed on employability skills, such as leadership, accountability, teamwork, and responsibility — giving them an edge against any competition that comes their way.
Program Overview
Colorado ProStart is a high school hospitality education program conducted by the Colorado Restaurant Association Foundation, The Colorado Restaurant Association, and the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association. Its exquisitely designed, two-year foodservice and hospitality management curriculum is offered to high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate a real passion or even passing interest for the industry.
Colorado ProStart offers its students the skills and knowledge that are required to excel in the foodservice and hospitality industries. We recognize that combining education with experience creates the perfect “recipe” for building futures as students compete for success throughout their lives. The program offers classroom experience, real world experience, excellent educators and mentors, a National Certificate of Achievement, scholarships, and other elements to prep them for the years ahead.
Classroom Experience
Real World Experience
While classroom instruction is a fantastic tool in learning culinary and management skills, nothing beats rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. Students learn how to be an industry professional through hands-on work under the direction of a mentor, who will direct them to connect their current performance with their professional futures.
National Certificate of Achievement
The ProStart National Certificate of Achievement demonstrates that you have what it takes to be a leader, and that you are ready to step into any role in the hospitality industry. Once a student has met its requirements, this coveted certificate can open the door to employment and college scholarships.
